Russian Envoy Describes Zelensky as "Politically Dead"

(MENAFN) Russian envoy to the United Nations, Vassily Nebenzia, has sharply criticized Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, labeling him as “politically dead” and accusing him of holding onto power to avoid being held liable for his actions.

Speaking in an interview, broadcasted on Friday, Nebenzia asserted that Zelensky's presidency has expired and that he refuses to relinquish control to escape the aftermath of his leadership decisions.

During the interview, Nebenzia claimed that Zelensky had abandoned the core commitments he made during his campaign and instead drew Ukraine further into a broader war.

He specifically pointed to Zelensky’s promise to end hostilities in the Donbass region, which, according to Nebenzia, was undermined by Kiev’s failure to uphold the Minsk accords of 2014-2015, with the backing of Western nations.

“Zelensky came to power on the promise to end the war in Donbass... He promised one thing, but he turned 180 degrees… Politically, Zelensky is already dead,” Nebenzia declared.

The diplomat also accused Zelensky of extending his time in office to sidestep repercussions related to the ongoing conflict with Russia and the alleged misappropriation of financial aid from the West.

“The end of his presidency may entail something for him that he is trying to avoid at all costs: Reporting on the money stolen and the loss of the people whom he failed miserably,” Nebenzia added. “So he has all the reasons... to cling to power and not to hold elections.”
