Armenian PM Confirms Peace Deal with Azerbaijan
Pashinyan confirmed that the peace and interstate relations agreement was signed on August 8 in Washington, with Trump and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev witnessing the historic moment.
“The role of US President Donald Trump is decisive in this peace process,” Pashinyan remarked, further revealing that both he and Aliyev have jointly proposed Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
The Armenian leader also pointed to a significant thaw in relations with Türkiye, noting “regular meetings” with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He expressed optimism that Armenia and Türkiye could soon establish full diplomatic ties and open their shared border.
On the broader front, Pashinyan emphasized Armenia's growing international connections, highlighting stronger relations with the European Union, United States, Russia, China, India, and neighboring countries. He also revealed that Armenia’s parliament has approved a law to begin the formal process of seeking EU membership.
Pashinyan extended an invitation to global leaders to visit Armenia in 2026 for two major events: the European Political Community Summit and the UN Biodiversity Conference. He expressed confidence that by then, the peace agreement with Azerbaijan would be fully implemented, and Armenia's border with Türkiye would be open.
