Bus Crash Leaves Eight Dead, Fourteen Injured in Egypt

(MENAFN) At least eight people were killed and 14 others injured on Monday when a passenger bus flipped over on a desert highway in southern Egypt's Minya province, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

The crash occurred as the bus was en route from Minya to Cairo, as confirmed by the Minya Province's official Facebook page. The wounded passengers were promptly transported to Samalut Medical Center in Minya for medical care.

The driver was among the fatalities, though the exact cause of the crash remains unknown, the ministry reported.

Road accidents are a frequent issue in Egypt, often attributed to factors like inadequate traffic enforcement and poorly maintained roads. Nevertheless, the country has been investing in infrastructure improvements, including the construction of new roads and bridges, to alleviate traffic congestion in recent years.
