Russian Official Blames Kyiv for Halt in Peace Talks
He also issued a cautionary note concerning the potential transfer of US Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine.
Addressing Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko’s comments about suggestions to resolve the conflict, Peskov referenced the previous Istanbul meeting with the Ukrainian delegation.
“There was an exchange of documents here. Last time in Istanbul, proposals were formulated to create working groups to discuss all modalities in key areas. Now there’s a pause,” quoted a Russian state-run news agency, citing Peskov’s statement.
He attributed the current halt to “the Kyiv regime’s reluctance to continue this dialogue.”
Peskov further reacted to Washington’s declarations regarding the delivery of Tomahawk missiles, stating, “We’ve heard these statements. We’re analyzing them carefully. Our military specialists are closely monitoring this.”
He added that there is “no panacea that can change the situation on the front lines for the Kyiv regime.”
