Crowds Flood Central London Streets in Support of Palestine
The demonstrators assembled at Victoria Embankment before moving past key landmarks including Westminster Bridge, Waterloo Bridge, and the Strand, eventually arriving at Whitehall. The march featured a steady chorus of chants, with protestors calling out slogans such as "Stop starving Gaza" and "End the siege."
Speaking to media, a protester identified only as Moss criticized Western nations’ involvement: "The whole infrastructure of Gaza, the West Bank and Palestine have been destroyed," he said. "It's a shame on the West that they are actively arming Israel and providing cover for them."
In anticipation of disruptions, the Metropolitan Police implemented public order restrictions aimed at minimizing "serious disruption to the local community." Officers were observed removing individuals carrying placards reading "We stand with Britain's Jews" from the predominantly pro-Palestinian gathering.
Saturday’s march coincided with the beginning of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, under which displaced residents have started returning from southern Gaza to northern areas.
The demonstration followed another pro-Palestine event held the previous week, where approximately 1,000 gathered in support of Palestine Action, a group designated as a terrorist organization by the UK government. The Metropolitan Police reported nearly 500 arrests linked to that event.
